A Fulani Herdsman who raped a pregnant woman because her husband killed his cow in Ryom government area of Plateau State.
He was arrested in his hideout in Bauchi State where he had escaped to and brought back to the Plateau State police Headquarters in Jos, where he confessed to his crimes.
While he was paraded at the police station , Umaru said the victim’s husband dared him when he killed his cow and he had vowed to revenge the death of his beloved animal.
“Yes, I raped the pregnant woman because her husband offended me by killing one among my cows.
There was each day I took my cattle to graze in an empty field on the brink of his farm and he warned me never to return to the world to graze again.
I told him that i might not allow my cattle to enter into his farmland and pleaded with him to permit me graze my cattle in peace as I didn't want to possess any problem with him or with anyone.
But he kept harassing me and that i had to maneuver my cattle faraway from the world . a couple of days later, I took my cattle bent graze but I met an equivalent man performing on another of his farms and he shouted at me that he had warned me never to return there again.
I shouted back at him and he said he was getting to affect me and brought out his cutlass and slashed at one among my cows, killing it on the spot. I went after him but he ran away and that i vowed to try to to something which will also hurt him.
I knew the person alright and that i also knew that his wife was pregnant at that point , so I vowed to rape her anytime I had the prospect .
My chance came some weeks later once I saw the lady getting to pluck some tomatoes one morning and fortunately , she was alone, so I followed her to the farm and kidnapped her.
I took her into the bush and raped her 3 times . She was begging me that she was pregnant but I told her that her husband had killed my very own cow without mercy, so i might not have mercy on her.
She was bleeding while i used to be raping her but I didn't care. She was shedding an equivalent blood my cow was shedding, so I didn't bother about the blood.
When I was done, I told her to travel and tell her husband what I did to her. Then I escaped to my hometown in Bauchi State where I even have been hiding until the police came to arrest me.
My only regret is that the lady lost her baby and she or he suffered for what her husband did but I just had to avenge the death of my cow which meant such a lot to me.”
The suspect, consistent with the police command, are going to be charged to court at the top of investigation and can be charged for kidnapping, rape and second degree murder of the dead baby.
